Introducing Our New Principal!
My name is Julie Farmer and I am so excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Max Larsen Elementary School. I am honored to have been selected to join Coldwater Community Schools as a partner in your children's education. Over the past 20 years, I have worked in several roles that have one thing in common...being an advocate for EACH child! I will spend a lot of time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles and interests. I will celebrate their successes, small and large. I will encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school community.
Not only am I excited to begin working with your children, but I look forward to the work we will do together. As the old African Proverb states, "It takes a village to raise a child." I am excited to see your children through your eyes. I cannot wait to share with you the great things they do throughout their days here at Max Larsen. And of course, I will be here to work with you should they need any help navigating any aspect of the school day.
My goal is to ensure that all children are healthy, happy, and safe, so they may learn as much as they can. This has been my belief since I began my teaching career in the Battle Creek Lakeview School District in 1998 in a third and fourth grade multiage classroom. I worked there for five years, and then my family relocated to Muskegon, Michigan where I worked for the Reeths-Puffer School District. There I worked as a teacher in several grades including Young Fives, Kindergarten, First Grade, Fourth Grade, and World Language. I also had a role as an Instructional Coach while there. Most recently, I worked for the Calhoun Intermediate School District as a MI Excel Statewide Field Team Facilitator supporting districts across the state of Michigan. I believe all of these experiences have prepared me to take on this new role! My greatest achievement comes personally, though, as I am a mother of two wonderful children: Ellory (18) and Logan (16). My husband Todd, who serves as the Coldwater Athletic Director, and I are excited to be a part of this great community. I hope my experiences as a mom will serve me well here at Max Larsen as your children become like my own. I will work tirelessly to ensure that each child has the best possible experience while here at Max Larsen.
Once again, I am so thankful to have the opportunity to bring all that I have experienced and learned with me to this great community. I look forward to getting to know you and your children. I will be working most days between now and the start of the school year to ensure a smooth transition as we begin. Please consider joining me on August 5 from 6-7 PM or August 8 from 11 AM-12 PM on the Max Larsen playground for Popsicles on the Playground so we can begin getting to know each other!
