March 2023 Newsletter
Teacher request forms for the 2023-24 school year will be available in the office from April 3-28. Parents must pick up forms in the office and absolutely no requests will be accepted after April 28. We believe strongly in involving parents in the education of their child, and are happy to accept requests. However, please know that teacher requests are not a guarantee your child will be placed in a certain room. Creating balanced classes that allow all children to learn is our priority. Also, please know staffing (teacher teaching a certain grade level) can change before school begins in the fall.
Our 4th Grade teachers this year are:
Mrs. AcMoody, Ms.Fedore, Mrs. Dibert, Mrs. Howell, Mrs. Henry, Mrs. Janas, and Mrs. Smith
Our 5th Grade teachers this year are:
Mrs. Dally, Mr. Dibert, Mrs. Hagaman, Mrs. Harris, Mrs. Murphy, Miss Stempien, and Mrs. Szafranski
On March 14 and 16, the LMS counselors will be here to distribute enrollment packets for the next year to our 5th Graders. Students will bring their enrollment packets home; parents need to sign them and return them to Lakeland by March 22.

3/14, 9:30-10:15 AM for Dally

Get ready! Our Scholastic Book Fair is coming March 6-10. Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers. IN ADDITION - as always - every book that they buy helps earn rewards for our school. If you cannot make it to the Fair, then shop our school’s Online Book Fair. All the orders ship directly to your home and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school. Visit our Online Book Fair homepage to learn more, and get started with online shopping.
Tibbits Young Audiences will be presenting Peter Pan - A Musical Adventure at the Tibbits Opera House March 17-19. Showtimes are 7 PM on March 17 and 18, and 2 PM on March 19. Tickets are $6 and are available at tibbits.org. Come out and support your friends and classmates that are performing!
March is Reading Month
Lakeland’s Amazing Reading Spectacular calendar with all the fun is also included. Help you child read and have fun all month long!
Calling the Office
If you have a change to your child’s end of the day transportation, please call before 3:15 PM so that we have time to make sure the teacher and student know what the changes are for that day.
We ask that you pay attention to the walkways in our parking lot, for the safety of our students and staff. We ask that that you not block them as they continue to be a safe way to and from the building.
Our spring break is the week of March 27-31. Classes will resume April 3.
On Monday, March 6 from 4:30-7 PM, Lakeland staff will be working at McDonald’s. Lakeland will receive a portion of the inside sales to support student activities. Drive-thru sales do not qualify. Come in and support Lakeland Students!
Hungry Howie's Pizza Night
Lakeland is having a Hungry Howie’s Night on Wednesday, March 15th. We thank you in advance for your support. Mrs. Janas’s class won the pizza party for February.
Released Time Bible Class is a program permitted by Michigan law, whereby children are released from school classes during school hours to attend religious instruction at a nearby location. If you would like your child to attend this once-a-month program, please have your child pick up a permission slip from our office. Class is Monday Mar. 13 from 9:45-11 AM.
When school is on a 2-hour delay, the school day will start at 10:35 AM, and breakfast will not be served. 5th Grade Band class will start at 9:30 AM. Our doors will open at 10:15 AM for all the other students.
