Schools of Hope - Volunteers Needed
Schools of Hope is a reading buddy program designed to help children in the 2nd Grade meet the state required reading standards. This is done by matching local volunteers with students needing a little extra help in reading. Community members provide their time and literacy skills once a week for 30-minutes to help students reach grade level reading. The program runs throughout the school year. Coldwater Schools of Hope is a partnership between the United Way of Branch County, Coldwater Kiwanis Club, Branch County Great Start, and Coldwater Community Schools. Please contact one of these organizations or Jefferson Elementary to volunteer!
As more field trips are approaching, we ask that you fill out a volunteer form if you have not yet done this. For the safety of our students, it is required that we have a background check on file. Please contact the main office or stop in to fill one out. Keep in mind that it takes about a week to get back the results so be sure to get them turned in as soon as possible.
In the event that you arrive late with your child, you MUST stop in the office and sign them in. This ensures the safety of the children and assists with accurate attendance.
Please ensure that you are parking in a parking spot when walking your child into the building.
Although we understand that delays may occur in our morning routines, we strongly encourage parents to ensure students arrive on time. Students should be here by 8:40 PM, as teachers retrieve their classes and school begins at 8:45 PM. After this time, doors will be locked, so please enter the building through the front office and sign your child in. Friendly reminder, three (3) tardies equals a half-day absence on the student’s attendance.
We will provide (3) placards per family, additional placards will cost $1.00. These can be purchased in the main office.
Please do NOT park in front of driveways, closer than 15-feet from intersections, and/or block side streets while in the curbside pick-up line.
Please note that NEW placards should be used for students this year. If you have one from last year, feel free to dispose of them. The new placards have current teacher names on them and are needed for the 2018-19 school year.
