  • Strong Academics

    The core curriculum focuses on mastery of essential academic learning requirements that every student is expected to know and demonstrate. The core curriculum aligns with State and National standards and complies with North Central Accreditation (NCA) requirements. In compliance with the core curriculum requirements, the Coldwater school district has fully implemented mathematics, science, social studies and language arts. Two of the district school buildings are fully accredited by the North Central Association. The following are NCA accredited schools:

    • Coldwater High School
    • Legg Middle School


    Coldwater Community Schools (CCS) offers state of the art technology in grades K-12. Every classroom and office in the district is wired for internet and telephone service. CCS deploys over 1100 internet capable workstations. Each building has at least one file server, multiple laser printers, web content filtering for CIPA compliance, and complete voicemail capabilities. CCS offers Moodle Classes, School Messenger telephone notification services, and many other on-line learning opportunities for all grade levels.

    Specialized Programs

    Accelerated Learner Program

    The needs of students in grades K-8 needing a more academically challenging curriculum are met through differentiated classroom instruction and/or placement in above grade level content sections. In grades 9-12, students have options of enrolling in course sections that offer a more rigorous content focus.

    Advanced Placement Classes

    Students at the High School may enroll in high-level courses taught according to the AP syllabus, including Calculus, English Literature, and Government. Students may elect to take AP tests in French, Spanish, European History, U.S. History, Biology, and Psychology. Distance Learning and additional coursework is available through the Michigan Virtual High School (MVHS).

    Vocational/Technical Education

    The Branch Area Careers Center addresses the needs of those students who desire specialized training. The Center provides counseling, career assessment, job placement, career guidance, and employability skills and individual job training opportunities.

    Kids Club Childcare Center

    Kinder Learning Academy

    Tuition-based preschool program for 3 and 4 year olds located at Lincoln Learning Center (more information available on our website or call 279- 5910).

    Interscholastic Athletic Program

    The Coldwater Community Schools' athletic programs are competitive and State-recognized.
