  • 2020-21 District Improvement Plan - Highlights

Under Michigan Department of Education regulations, each school building must have a School Improvement Plan that is reviewed and approved annually by the Board of Education.

Due to the global pandemic, the Michigan Department of Education issued some flexibility regarding the requirements for District Improvement Plans (DIP) and School Improvement Plans (SIPs) for 2020-2021.  As communicated in MDE Memo 2020-049, due to the mandated school closures and the implementation of Continuity of Learning and COVID-19 Response Plans as required by Executive Order 2020-35, MDE determined that the 2019-20 DIPs, SBDIPs, and SIPs, as they exist in ASSIST, will meet the 2020-21 state (Michigan Revised School Code Section 380.1277) and federal (Every Student Succeeds Act, Section 1112) requirements for local educational agencies (LEAs). As a result of this determination, MDE has modified the 2020-21 reporting for districts in the following ways: Schools and districts are not required to complete and submit an updated or new DIP or SIP in ASSIST for the 2020-21 school year.

Furthermore, the Michigan Department of Education will be implementing a new reporting system known as Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP) for District and School Improvement Plans beginning in the 2021-2022 school year. ASSIST will no longer be used.

During this transition, the district has developed a 2020-2021 District Improvement Plan - Highlights document in an effort to provide transparency and clarity regarding the district and school priorities for the 2020-2021 school year.

  • 2021-22 District Improvement Plan - Highlights

Under Michigan Department of Education regulations, each school building must have a School Improvement Plan that is reviewed and approved annually by the Board of Education.

Beginning in the 2021-2022 school year, the Michigan Department of Education is implementing a new reporting system known as Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP) for District and School Improvement Plans. ASSIST will no longer be used for district and school improvement plans. For the 2021-2022 school year, districts are required to complete the MICIP process for one goal.  Schools are “tagged” within the district goal so there aren’t separate school improvement plans.  Here is a link to the summary information for our district’s MICIP goal on Social Emotional Learning. For more information about MICIP, please review this short three minute video from MDE.

During this transition, in an effort to provide transparency and clarity regarding the district and school priorities for the 2021-2022 school year, a link to the 2021-2022 District Improvement Plan highlights is offered below.
