End-Of-Day Pickup Procedure
In order to better ensure student safety during dismissal, Jefferson Elementary has implemented a procedure where it is not necessary for parents or those picking up students to exit their vehicle.
Cars in line to pick up students should be stationed from the front loop, along the west side (facing South) of Vans Avenue and the south side (facing East) of Hull St.
At approximately 3:50 PM, parent pick-up students will be dismissed.
All parent pick-up students will remain in the lobby until their name is called, sitting quietly. Parents will be expected to line up, with the student name card visible in the driver side window. Staff will call each student's name as cars pull up. Cars exiting the front loop are to make a left (heading North) on Vans Avenue in order to avoid creating a backup at Chicago St. (US-12).
Those parents without a name card will need to give their name to the teacher and/or office so that a name card can be made.
All students not picked up by 4:10 PM will be escorted to the office, where the parent will need to come into the building to pick up after that point.
Parents wishing to walk up to the school to pick up their child must park in the south staff parking lot and wait on the sidewalk outside of the new classrooms. A staff member will greet those parents and bring those children out to you. Parents need to wait on the sidewalk until their child comes to them.
