In Art we have been working hard on expectations and responsible behavior so we can make the most of our 30 minute time together. Students have the opportunity to connect with Mrs. Ned in a way they would like by selecting HUG, HIGH-FIVE, or WIGGLE as they enter the art room. Expectations are posted to help provide visual reminders.
Art students are beginning a unit on the power of colored pencils.

Happy first day of fall!

Building our reading stamina ONE. BOOK. AT. A. TIME!

We were so grateful to have shopped the farmers market!

Third graders have been working hard on understanding place value and developing their conceptual understanding of one's, tens, hundreds, thousands, and ten-thousands.

Congratulations to third graders who have been recognized for their outstanding behavior the first three weeks of school!

Teachers and students have been paving the way to a smooth year with learning routines and procedures to help guide their learning! Mrs. Mencke is seen here working on establishing good writing routines!

Third grade students brought home a permission slip for Project Red. This is a field trip to the Branch Area Careers Center to learn more about agriculture in Branch County. We will make the short drive on Thursday, September 18th, and will return to the school by 2:05. This is a FREE trip, and only requires your signed permission for students to attend. Please return the permission slip as soon as you can, and feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns!

We had a great Farmer's Market today at Jefferson Elementary. We served up Local Michigan Produce for the students to "buy" with their Veggie Bucks and take home with them to their families in their special Farmer's Market bags filled with information and recipes from today.
Big Thanks to Chef Jayna for planning and organizing the event for our students! You ROCK!
Thank you to the Coldwater Kiwanis Members that Volunteered, Matt Robinson from Tom Maceri & Son Produce, Amy Buskirk from ValleyHUB, Director of Dining Services for Hillsdale Schools Emily Hale, and Farmers Mike Gavin and Lindsey Visser.
Thank you to Chris Rakowski for his support today as well.
