The US-12 Heritage Trail Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Chapter is pleased to sponsor the DAR Good Citizen program in our area. This Chapter is excited to have all of the Hillsdale and Branch County High Schools participate in this program, which honors an outstanding young person in the 2025 senior class who demonstrates qualities of a good citizen, as well as provides an optional opportunity to participate in the scholarship portion of the program.
The DAR Good Citizen program was created in 1934 and is a good way to recognize outstanding young people who exhibit the qualities of good citizenship in their homes, schools, and communities. The DAR Good Citizen program and scholarship contest is intended to encourage and reward the sparkling qualities of good citizenship in students. The program is open to all high school seniors enrolled in public and private schools accredited and in good standing with the stated board of education. Students are not required to be U.S. citizens.
The students selected as the school’s DAR Good Citizen must have the many qualities, which include, dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.
Each school’s DAR Good Citizen receives a DAR Good Citizen pin, certificate and wallet recognition card. The student is then eligible, if they wish, to enter the DAR Good Citizen Scholarship Contest.
This year, Coldwater High School is pleased to announce Mr. Evan Poradzisz as the DAR Good Citizen Award recipient.
