  • New Start Date for School - September 8, 2020

    Dear Communities of Branch County,

We all sincerely apologize for this late notification, but this decision was not made easily. A lot of contemplation and coordination across our county occurred before this decision was made. We want to inform you of a change in the upcoming school year start date. Branch County schools' Common Calendar was set for students to return August 24th to in-person learning but will be changed to begin after Labor Day on Tuesday, September 8th.

As our schools' superintendents have been working collaboratively with staff and each other in preparation for our opening, we have realized that we need more time to make sure all of our schools are prepared for our staff and students with adequate safety equipment, enough computers, training for staff, and other requirements mandated by our Governor. We have found that personal protective equipment (PPE) and computers that are required are hard to get in a timely manner. Many of our orders are due to come in close to September 1st.

The superintendents feel this extra time will allow staff to be prepared on new safety guidelines in our plans and get our supplies in to start the school year. We know this change can impact families and it wasn't made without many long conversations. If you have any questions please contact your local district. Your district will release a calendar soon as they may vary slightly from district-to-district. Please note that winter and spring breaks and Farmer's Day will remain as previously scheduled on the common calendar.

The Superintendents of Branch County schools are committed to your student's education and keeping your child safe this fall. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your local district's superintendent .

    Kris Jenkins, Superintendent, Branch ISD
Steve Wilson, Superintendent, Bronson Community Schools
Terry Whelan, Superintendent, Coldwater Community Schools
    Ryan Tomlinson, Principal, Pansophia Academy
Marc Kramer, Superintendent, Quincy Community Schools
