Dear Coldwater Community Schools Families,
Coldwater Community Schools is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our high school students. Our hearts go out to the student’s family, friends, classmates, and all who knew and cared for them. This is a difficult time for our entire school community.
We recognize that moments like this bring a wide range of emotions, and we are committed to supporting our students and staff as we work through this period of grief together. Counselors, social workers, and additional support personnel are available in our schools to provide care, comfort, and guidance to anyone who may need it.
We encourage families to
• Please check in directly with your child today and over the next several days.
• Keep routines as consistent as possible.
• Limit exposure to social media or speculation related to this situation.
• Encourage your child to talk to a trusted adult if they are struggling.
Please watch for
• Sudden changes in mood or behavior
• Withdrawal from friends, family, or activities
• Changes in sleep or appetite
• Increased anxiety, irritability, or difficulty focusing
• Statements of hopelessness or wanting to give up
If you notice concerning changes or have immediate safety concerns, please seek help right away (contact the school, a mental health provider, or emergency services). As a community, we will continue to look after one another with compassion, understanding, and respect.
Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we ask that you keep them in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.
Sincerely,
Paul Flynn
Superintendent
